It is a 1960's era piece with "New York, USA" stamped on the shank. It is an early NY, USA version, with scooped inner side walls, just like the Meyer Bros. Model from the 1950's. This version has a thinner body though, so it is a bit brighter. This is the same type of piece that Phil Woods, as well as countless other bebop and big band altoists, used. It has a medium chamber, medium facing curve, and #3 tip opening.
The actual tip opening is. This piece is in excellent, lightly used condition. The facing is smooth and original, with razor thin rails. There is just a hint of tooth wear on the beak. There is some ligature scratching on the top of the body.
If you like to play a harder reed on a small tip opening, or if you want a lower priced NY Meyer to have opened up, this could be just the one for you!
