This is an'early New York, USA' era Meyer. These have the same scooped inner side walls as the'Meyer Bros. Era pieces, but with a thinner body which makes them a bit brighter. This is the quintessential bebop mouthpiece for alto saxophonists, as played by Phil Woods and countless others. The tip, table, and rails are in overall good shape.
There are a couple super tiny nicks on the right side rail, but they are so minor that I seriously doubt they would affect the performance of this piece in any noticeable way. There is mild discoloration as seen in the pictures.
There is just a minor bit of tooth wear on the beak, but no deep grooves. This is a great piece for the serious jazz alto player. Vintage Meyer alto mouthpieces are very prized for the excellent quality of their hard rubber compound, but they are getting more and more difficult to come by. This one will only go up in value as you enjoy playing it! The item "MEYER EARLY NEW YORK, USA ALTO SAXOPHONE MOUTHPIECE FRANK WELLS REFACE.070" is in sale since Saturday, December 23, 2017.
