Offered is a vintage C G Conn Chu Berry alto saxophone made in Elkhart, Indiana during the heyday of band instrument manufacture in the USA. Serial number 596XX places the date of manufacture c. The Chu Berry saxophone plays with the richest and most sonorous tone found on any saxophone. This model is one the early influences on the evolution of jazz and the smoky gritty sound so sought after by today's professionals. Mechanically the horn is in good condition, having a overhaul about a year ago; I only replaced the pads that were necessary to maintain the original Conn ones.
This comes with a handmade Phil tone rift. Comes with the original case retrofitted with silver velvet. This horn is over 100 years old and vintage, you can expect a beautiful sound but please don't expect it to be a brand new Yamaha, this horn has it quirks, with foam holding the trill key down and sugru risers. I pikced this out of a handful of New wonders, 6M's and Mark 6's.
