Take a look at this vintage Buescher Elkart True-Tone Low Pitch Alto Saxophone. The serial number, 142802 dates the horn to 1923. It comes with case, Brilhart 4 mouthpiece (+ cover) and is ready to play.
I know nothing about saxophones, but my neighbor just retired from his position as the high school band director as it happens, he specializes in saxophones. He looked the horn over and played it sounded great! The pads are not brand new, but they are in good condition. He deemed it to be in good playing condition; everything functions as it should. The body of the horn is lacking most of its original finish but is otherwise in good physical condition with just a few small dings. Nine keys have mother-of-pearl inlay; one of these is chipped (see photo).
The large key on the right side of the bell seems to be missing an inlay (or maybe a felt). The Brilhart Eboline mouthpiece (#127769) has overall wear. There is a number 4 at the base. The ligature is missing a screw.
It comes with what I believe is the horns original mouthpiece cover. This seems to be silver plated. The case is labeled is by York and metal reinforced corners and serves to protect the instrument. The exterior is well worn and in need of repair; the hinges and handle are broken/missing.
The green velvet interior is also well worn. There is a corner pocket that closes with a hook clasp to store reeds, mouthpiece, neck, etc.The case measures 10 x 6 x 24 ½.
